Exciting News: Filby Bells Restoration Expression of Interest
Accepted by National Lottery Heritage Fund

On 30th June, Filby Bells Restoration submitted an Expression of Interest (EOI)—a 1,100-word proposal—to the National Lottery Heritage Fund as the first step in applying for over £300,000 in grant funding. This funding would contribute significantly toward restoring the bells of All Saints Church, Filby, returning them to full circle ringing capability.

The EOI clearly demonstrated the Trust’s alignment with the Fund’s four investment principles...

-
Heritage Preservation
-
Environmental Protection
-
Inclusivity and Accessibility
-
Sustainability
We’re pleased to share that our EOI has been accepted, and we have been invited to proceed to the next stage: the Development Phase.

This next stage involves completing a detailed application of up to 25,000 words, responding to a comprehensive questionnaire. During this phase, we will also seek funding to commission key professionals — architects, designers, builders, and surveyors — to develop the plans and documentation required for the full project proposal.

We have 12 months to complete the Development Phase.
If successful, we will progress to the Delivery Phase, which includes another application of approximately 20,000 words and a full set of supporting documents. These will include...

-
Detailed architectural designs and technical plans
-
Accurate costings and formal quotations
-
A comprehensive business plan and project delivery strategy
This rigorous multi-phase process ensures that the project is well-planned, fully costed, and sustainable. With over £100,000 in funding already secured, we’re well on our way to making this exciting vision a reality.

We are deeply grateful for the support we've received so far, and we look forward to sharing more updates as we move forward in this transformative journey for All Saints Church and the wider community.

Filby Bells Restoration Project - an update - uploaded 14th October
Filby is looking to engage its residents, and others in the surrounding area, in a community project centred around revitalizing the village church by transforming it into a cultural hub, an exciting way to preserve heritage while creating a space for community activities, events, and gatherings.

Village residents will soon receive information and a questionnaire, to involve everyone in shaping the future of the church. Please watch the 9-minute video that offers insights into what can be achieved with the space.

By gathering views through the questionnaire, this project aims to ensure that any changes reflect the needs and desires of the local community, while also preserving the church as a historical landmark for future generations. This initiative is a way to blend tradition with modern needs, turning the church into a place where cultural, social, and educational activities can flourish.

The questionnaire is available on-line. Just click on the following link...

(No need to sign in to Google, just complete the form and hit the "Submit' button.)

You do not have to be a Filby resident. The questionnaire can be completed by anybody with an interest in preserving this local building.
If you're interested in helping shape the future of Filby's church, filling out and sharing your thoughts could have a significant impact on the project!

An Apology – uploaded 4th February

We regret that the Filby Bells Restoration website, filbybells.website, together with three other village websites have been down since late December. Our web hosts, Hostgator, reported malware in the Wordpress based sites but have been singularly unhelpful in restoring them. As a result we have bitten bullets and elected to rewrite the sites on a different host, Wix.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused, especially to those who have wished to keep up with the restoration project or check on related events.

If you should notice anything important that is missing from the new site, please get in touch via derek.a.n@btinternet.com.

Visit of the Princess Royal - Uploaded 28th January

The intended arrival at the Playing Field of the Princess Royal, Princess Anne, at 13:15 on Thursday 25th January, by helicopter, did not happen as it was cancelled at the last minute due to low cloud preventing a landing. The small crowd, including children from the village's primary school, were disappointed at the no-show. The visit was to attend the Norfolk Schools Sailing Association sailing base on Filby Broad. It was made later in the day when the Princess arrived by road.
